What's Up with White Women?

As a white woman, ask yourself: are you upholding

or fighting racism?

What's Up with White Women? is a practical guide

for white women who are interested in becoming

more effective in their cross-cultural, anti-racist practices.

Blending real-life stories, theory, and anti-racism practices

from decades of on-the-ground work, the authors invite white

women to understand their gendered role in systemic racism and their unique opportunity for action.

PROCEEDS FROM WHAT’S UP WITH WHITE WOMEN GO TO:

The Unspoken Truths: American History Traveling Museum

Tsuru for Solidarity

At the heart of this book is collaboration, so proceeds from What’s Up with White Women will go to two community organizations that we love: The Unspoken Truths: The American History Travelling Museum, and Tsuru for Solidarity. We are proud to partner with two such inspiring and visionary organizations and hope that you will want to support them as well. Please click on the link to learn more.

Upcoming Workshops for What’s Up with White Women?

October 14th, 2021
This workshop will examine three patterns of behavior: perfectionism, control, and defensiveness, within the context of sexism and white privilege. We’ll provide alternative strategies, based in self-awareness, to better work in multicultural partnerships.

Unpacking Sexism and White Privilege in Pursuit of Racial Justice

October 28th - 29th, 2021
In this 2-day workshop use a developmental model to examine how our identities change as we grow in our understanding of personal and institutional oppression. Given the virtual platform, we will still use highly interactive methods including reflective writing, video clips, small group conversations, and storytelling to take a deeper look into our learned patterns of behavior.

Unpacking Sexism and White Privilege in Pursuit of Racial Justice
Collective Praxis Book Club

November 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th, and December 7th

Authors Ilsa Govan and Tilman Smith are excited to offer a five-week series exploring how ideas in our book apply beyond the pages. Our hope is that participants will leave with a deeper understanding of the intersection of sexism and white privilege in their experiences and new ideas for living into anti-racist values.
Each session will stand alone and be accompanied by recommended pre-reading. Participants who commit to growing our community by attending all five sessions will receive a discount and be paired with another participant, an accountabilibuddy, for added connection and reflection.
